Saturday, July 14th | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM | DNA from Bananas!

Special Presentation | 2:00 PM | Marina Walther-Antonio, Ph.D. | The Human Microbiome: You are Never Alone

This is a short interactive event depicting the evolution of our life long relationship with our microbes from the moment we are born and into adulthood. Visitors will experience a new look into microbes and how important some of them are in protecting us from sickness and unfriendly microbe encounters.

Life is what you make it – and so is art! Join Rochester Art Center staff on May 5th from 1 – 4 PM as we explore perception and build our artistic community by collaborating on a new mural for our classroom space. Everyone who participates will be given a two dimensional cube (take our word for it) to decorate and display, and another to decorate and take home to start their own mural with family and friends.

Join us for our April Free Family Day as we celebrate the arrival of Spring. We can’t predict the weather so we’ve decided to welcome the season by creating flowers that never stop blooming! Using a variety of different papers and wires, families and RAC staff will craft bouquets of roses, lilies and carnations suitable for any season.

The schedule for Free Family Day is open, you can come anytime between 1 – 4! Free parking is available on the street and in the Civic Center ramp.

For this Free Family Day, please bring a canned or boxed food item or a toiletry item to donate to Minnesota FoodShare Campaign Food and Fund Drive. This time of year is extremely important to Channel One and donations made through April 8th help them qualify for extra grant funds from the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. For a list of most needed items and additional information, please visit https://www.helpingfeedpeople.org/minnesota-foodshare-march-campaign/.

Since 2004, children and families have taken part in one of Rochester Art Center’s most popular and exciting programs, Free Family Day. Guests are welcomed to create original art pieces in the studio classroom, our Grand Lobby and occasionally off-site with a collaborative partner. If you have any questions about Free Family Days, please contact us at info@rochesterartcenter.org, 507-282-8629.

Date, time and location subject to change. Quantities may be limited for events so make sure to register online in advance via Eventbrite!
