ROCHESTER ART CENTER

adolescence through the lens

Since early 2011, Rochester Art Center’s education staff has been working with middle and high school students from the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester in an effort to document their lives through photographs. The students were given disposable film cameras and asked to create work around four themes: Self-Portrait, Family, Community, and Dreams. This project explores the personal nuance of adolescence through first-hand experience.

An exhibition of select photographs from this collaboration will be on view in Rochester Art Center’s Grand Lobby from April 5 – May 11, 2012. Join the young artists and their families for the opening reception on Thursday, April 5 from 5 – 8 pm.

This activity is funded by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council through the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

Additional support provided by the Clinton Family Fund.
