Rochester Art Center will host monthly gatherings as a way to realize the goals of artist parent Eamon O’Kane’s child oriented interactive art installation, Froebel’s Studio: Institute of Creativity. May’s gathering will feature a discussion with parent artist Katya Roberts.

Artist Statement

Katya Roberts is a Ukrainian born artist living in Rochester, MN.  In and through her work, Katya Roberts explores the intangible concepts of the human condition (such as the passage of time and its effects on perspective), as they relate to the geological forces at play in the earth.  She creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional works with an ethereal quality.  In 2017, Katya Roberts founded the Mayo Family Connections Artist Group and became a summer artist in residence at the Rochester Art Center’s Total Arts Day Camp.  She had a winning proposal for an aluminum sculpture titled “Unbroken” as part of the Art4Trails public art series.  Recently, Katya Roberts’ installation “Transient Horizons” was on view at the Rochester Art Center as a part of the Southeastern Minnesota juried exhibition titled Locavore.
