How Many Maps Can You Make?
Single 2 Hour Workshop:
The Rochester Art Center building presents a beautiful space to view both artwork and the surrounding landscape, but also presents several important problems. Using both Eamon O’Kane’s map-based works and the playful spirit of the Froebel Studio as inspiration, we will respond to a series of prompts that will challenge us to map and re-map the space of the art center. Our goal will be to both analyze and deconstruct the space of RAC, and to consider larger questions about how place and space are represented. One session
Materials: Basic drawing materials and paper will be provided. No drawing experience necessary.
1 Session: Thurs, April 26, 6-8pm
$10 per person; Please call 507-282-8629 or stop by our front desk to make your payment.
Workshops Instructor: Matthew Winkler’s works in drawing, collage, painting and sculpture explore the abstraction and representation of landscape space. He is a current year recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and lives in Pine Island, MN.
