SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Applications are now being accepted for 2012 summer internships. Positions are unpaid, and require a minimum commitment of 5 – 10 hours per week. Gain valuable museum experience while assisting in one (or more) of several departments including: administration, development, education, events, exhibitions, facility, marketing, and visitor services. Internships may be applied for college or high school course credit.

PUBLIC ART COLLABORATION COORDINATOR

Rochester Art Center is partnering with the Rochester Downtown Alliance to facilitate a community art project to take place at Thursdays on 1st and Third: Downtown Rochester’s Summer Market and Music Festival. A pre-determined image will be segmented into a grid, and each week participants will be asked to creatively recreate a small portion of the large-scale image. The collaboration will come together in twelve panels throughout the course of the summer and by the final week of the market, the full image will be realized.

The activity will be programmed for the duration of market hours: Thursdays, 11:00 am – 8:30 pm, June 7 – August 30. The coordinator will be responsible for the set-up, staffing, and tear-down of the project each week, as well as documentation of the project and promotion of art center programs.

Required Skills
• Visual art background
• Strong communication skills - verbal and written
• Dependable, punctual, cooperative, flexible, and solution-oriented
• Ability to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds
• Ability to work under little or no supervision
• Self-motivated with good organization skills and attention to details
• Ability to lift fifty pounds and basic construction skills
