Shala Bain | Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Supervisor at Mayo Clinic
Artist | Patricia Dunn-Walker
The ability to spread cheer and goodwill is a trait necessary in all revolutions of fortune. Before the pandemic Shala Bain partnered with Bombas socks in an effort to encourage fellow staff to recognize one another. Mayo Clinic staff had the opportunity to nominate others to receive a pair of socks and appreciation for the good work they do, with Bombas donating approximately 1000 pairs of socks to those in need through local organizations. During the pandemic Shala has continued to advocate for PPE equipment and safety precautions on behalf of her fellow staff members. Never forgetting the importance of providing for those doing difficult work with the dignity and recognition owed for their sacrifice.
Nominated by Jennifer Charlebois & Mayo Clinic CRNAs, GI Division
Artist Bio | Patricia Dunn-Walker
I am originally from Illinois where I received my training in graphic design. I moved to Minnesota to pursue a career in design. After working in the design field for a number of years I took a year-long break to teach English in Japan. Immersing myself in such a visually rich and ancient culture inspired me to shift my focus from commercial work to fine art.
I moved to Rochester, raised a family and now I live here with my husband and miniature poodle. I have always been inspired by collage. I collect found paper and old print because it has a past history that adds an organic quality to my paintings. I strive to create a sense of excitement and balance in my own work. I get essential inspiration from collaborating with other artists and from working with people from other disciplines.
I show my work at galleries around Minnesota and at Gallery 24 in Rochester.
