Counterspaces Workshop
April 2nd | 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Rochester community members who self-identify as BIPOC, including those claiming multi-racial identities, are invited to participate in Counterspaces, a collective healing and empowerment project. Rochester community members who have been impacted by acts of racialized violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) and Black and other People of Color (BIPOC) will have an opportunity to share their stories through poetry and visual art. The workshop will be held in a socially distanced fashion on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 at the Rochester Art Center.
Dr. Angie Mejia (sociologist) and Yuko Taniguchi (poet) will provide a dedicated space for participants to connect and share their stories, thoughts, and feelings through creative prompts. Participants will have the opportunity to share their artwork and poems displayed at the Rochester Art Center in the spring of 2022.
