The Inch Art Auction is a fundraiser based on a similar project from Rochester Art Center’s history. In May of 1980, 100 artists created inch-sized art that was exhibited as the first of its kind and toured through the region. The exhibition was curated by local artist and luminary Judy Onofrio who shared that “the space seemed extremely tiny at first, but once the work was underway a square inch became enormous.”
Today’s iteration of Inch Art began with an open invitation to community members. Participants were provided a square inch wooden block and challenged to create a work of art. Each original inch of artwork is now up for auction and the funds raised will go toward supporting arts programming throughout the year.
There are two ways to show your support and get an original inch artwork for yourself!
